For some time now, the number of stories from the LGBTQ community in Bollywood's mainstream cinema has been increasing continuously. Popular actors of Hindi cinema are the faces of these stories. This thing makes these films more special. Badhaai Do is a sequel to this but the concept of the film is different. Which has remained untouched by popular Hindi cinema. The film brings to the fore the Lavender Marriage. Lavender marriage is the marriage in which a gay boy and a lesbian girl marry each other under the pressure of family and society. With a social message between family drama and comedy, this film does not promote lavender marriage, but in the end it says that the law does not recognize same-sex marriage, due to which lavender marriage is not their will and compulsion.

This story is about Police Officer Shardul ( Rajkumar Rao ) and PT Teacher Sumi ( Bhumi Pendekar ).) story. Those who are gay but they are hiding their identity from society and family members. The family members keep putting pressure on both of them for marriage. Police officer Shardul comes to know about Sumi being gay. He proposes Lavender marriage in front of Sumi. In which both of them can live life with their favorite partners even after marriage. They don't have to compromise on their sexual choices. Both will remain married only in the eyes of society and family. In real life, the two will just live like roommates. Will they be able to live a fake life by hiding their reality? When their families come to know about this, then there is going to be an uproar. Will they have the courage to accept their truth or will they continue to live a double life? You have to watch the movie to know the answer to all these questions. The film also has a different love story of Shardul and Sumi.

The treatment of the film has been kept very light. But despite this, the film forces the audience to think that the LGBTQ community still has to fight a long battle to get equal status in the society. When will gay marriage be recognized? Why has the law so far barred a gay or lesbian couple from legally adopting a child?

Every middle class family will relate to the characters of this film. Those who are after getting married first. After getting married, they keep making pressure to start a family again. This aspect of the film has lightened its mood. Same sex romance is depicted very beautifully in the film. The merits of the film also include that the character of Rimjhim is played by North East actress Chum but it is not mentioned even once in the film. This film also breaks this stereotype.

Talking about the shortcomings of the film, the film is a bit slow in the beginning. It takes a little more time to establish the characters. The editing of the film required some work. The emotional aspect of the film has also remained a bit weak. The pain of the gay community has been wrapped up in this film in just a few dialogues. The climax of the film remains a bit weak.

Talking about acting, Rajkumar Rao and Bhumi are in their top form. Especially Rajkumar wins hearts with his gestures and dialogue delivery. He has also been very effective in the emotional scenes of the film. The supporting casting of the film is tremendous. Which moves the story of the film forward. Film actress Sheeba Chadha is praised in this crowd. Seema Pahwa, Chum Darang and Gulshan Devaiah also add a different color to the story with their presence.

Talking about the music of the song, it is completely in line with the story. The song Hum Rang Hai has been shot very beautifully. It will not be surprising if it starts being used as an anthem for the LGBTQ community in the coming times. The cinematography of the film does justice to the subject. The dialogues have also become good.
