Chandigarh: The campaign of political parties for the assembly elections in Punjab is at its peak. Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the rally amidst tight security. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said on Monday that 1 lakh youth of the state would be given government jobs if his party comes to power again. Along with this, he also said that the Congress government in Punjab is always ready to help the people against inflation and poverty.

Talking to the media, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that if Congress comes to power again, one lakh youth of the state will be given government jobs. Earlier, Chief Minister Channi had promised the people of Punjab that 8 cylinders of LPG would be given free of cost in a year to the poor of the state. Along with this, they will be provided cash of Rs 1100 every month.

After ruling Punjab for nearly four-and-a-half years under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh, the Congress high command replaced the chief minister due to infighting. The Congress high command removed Captain Amarinder Singh from the chief minister's chair and appointed Dalit leader Charanjit Singh Channi to the post.
