Ranchi: Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has been convicted by a special CBI court in the illegal withdrawal from Doranda treasury in the fodder scam case on Tuesday. After being convicted in this case, the sentence will now be sentenced on February 18. If RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav is sentenced to less than three years by the court, then he can get bail immediately and if he is given a sentence of more than three years, then he will have to go to jail for the eighth time.

There was illegal withdrawal of 139.35 crore from Doranda treasury. There were 170 accused at the beginning of the case. Out of this, 55 accused died. In this case, seven accused including Dipesh Chandak and RK Das were made witnesses by the CBI. Sushil Jha and PK Jaiswal accepted the pre-judgment guilt. 99 accused are involved in the case including former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, former MP Jagdish Sharma, Dr RK Rana, then PAC President Dhruv Bhagat, then Animal Husbandry Secretary Beck Julius, Assistant Director of Animal Husbandry Department Dr KM Prasad.
Jagdish Sharma and Dhruv Bhagat sentenced to three years
A special CBI court on Tuesday sentenced former RJD MLAs Dhruv Bhagat and Jagdish Sharma to three years' imprisonment. Former MLA Dhruv Bhagat told the media that he and Jagdish Sharma have been given a three-year sentence. In this case, a fine of Rs 75 thousand has been imposed on Dhruv Bhagat and Rs 1.5 lakh on Jagdish Sharma. Along with this, he has been granted bail immediately by the court.

A CBI lawyer said that the sentence on Lalu Prasad Yadav will be pronounced on February 18. On January 29, the court had reserved its verdict after hearing arguments in the case. Prasad has earlier been sentenced to 14 years in jail in four other fodder scam cases. The CBI counsel said that Lalu Prasad has been convicted. The sentence will be pronounced on February 18.
